I’ve been pretty much silent in here over the last week or so – to be honest I needed the break!
I wasn’t burnt out but had scheduled the Xmas break to coincide with a proper rest and detox from Social Media, Emails, almost anything work related and boy was it freeing! Last year I remember taking a call the day after Boxing Day at my sister-in-law’s and it sucked!
Last year I remember crying the day before Christmas Eve because I simply had too much to do – in my business (trying to do a mini launch but failing badly), at home (packing for Xmas with the in-laws, getting the house straight before we left etc), not to mention all the shopping and wrapping of presents! My Father-in-Law asked if maybe I was trying to do too much. He was right of course, but the feeling of not really having an option because there was no one else to help me was so overwhelming I just broke down. 😩😥
That’s when I KNEW I needed a better way of balancing business and home – more structure without the pressure of rigid boundaries – I wanted things to feel lighter and easier and to get back to being ‘me’ again. 😀
The truth was I had a lot to deal with from October 2016 – I won’t go into them now but more than just the day to day pressures we all feel as a Mum, Entrepreneur, Employee (I was also coaching for another company as well back then). 👩⚕️🤦♀️🤷♀️
What changed in 2017? I simplified and stepped into a new way of working and allowed myself to be supported more than ever before – in all areas of my life.
I let go of that which wasn’t serving me and was slowing down my progress. That meant calling time on the people who weren’t giving me the support I needed at home and in my business and replacing them with higher quality, more committed people. It also meant no more coaching for someone else. 🏋️♀️👨👩👧👦💪
I moved from a US Coach who I didn’t have direct access to, to a UK Coach who had my back 100% and wasn’t going to let me fail. I now get specific support for me and MY business, so I’m no longer blindly trying to follow a one size fits all approach. 🌏👂🤝
I took more time off than ever before – almost a month at Easter, several weeks in the summer and half terms. ⛷️🏄♀️🧗♀️💆♀️
I committed to several in-person events where I met new clients and amazing contacts. I stepped up into speaking on a bigger platform – The Best You was a highlight. I re-connected with my local Network and made the time to stay in touch with many of the amazing people I’ve met on my entrepreneurial journey.
I committed to running more in-person, LIVE events and facilitated the deep transformations of many clients and attendees. The results have been astounding – new businesses formed and developed, Ted Talks given, true transformations in so many ways both personally and in business. My heart could burst with what I am now allowing myself to own! 🤸♀️🙏👏🎖️🏆🎫
The one thing that slipped was my commitment to getting out to exercise in all weathers. Running is my ‘me’ time when I get ideas, inspiration, calmness and of course fitness and energy. The less you do it the harder it gets –
and it felt hard in 2017 🙁 It’s firmly back on my agenda for 2018 – with the help I need of course! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
So here’s to 2017 – a year of transition for me and here’s to more progress, impact and many more miles covered and trails blazed in 2018.
